Wedding Gown Adventure #1

Although this happened during spring break I did not know how Miles would feel about posting the pictures or seeing them, but since we didn't find "the one" it is okay. We were mostly there to try on different styles and I am so glad we did. The type of dress I thought I would like, did not look the best on me. As the Maid of Honor, who was SUPER helpful this day, told me, "this the only day of your life that you can get away with a dress this big." So... ball gown it is.  Big thanks to the SOH (Step of Honor) Cayla Jordan for taking pictures.

Some things I learned trying on wedding dresses.

Breathing is optional. All you have to do is "arch the back" and you can get any dress zipped.

Not a huge fan of the rouching
It can get kind of boring while you wait for them to get another dress.
Although everyone else LOVED this one. I wasn't in love with it and the search will continue.
Best part of the day... finding maroon bridesmaids dresses that the bridesmaids actually like!

Wedding Planning

The wedding planning is in full swing and we are currently looking for a ceremony and reception site in or near San Antonio. Unfortunately the plan to get married at the church I have gone to 15 years was shot down when we learned there was a no alcohol policy. Please send any ideas that you have. This week we also had the first wedding dress shopping adventure, we got a long way to go. I am glad we have plenty of time.

We're engaged

I am sure that no one would have guessed this day would come after our first date almost six years ago. But we had the most perfect Aggie engagement yesterday March 13, 2011. Here is the story because I know you want to know...

I have been desperately trying to get to Chuy's since it made it's grand opening here in College Station and every time I have gone the wait has been over an hour long. Miles had told me before we left for Houston that he wanted to take me to dinner before I left for Spring Break, so I knew this was my chance. Little did I  know he had other plans for us. On Sunday after our return from Houston, Miles told me that he needed to go up to school to work on some things and then we would go eat when he was finished. Around 5:30 I got the call that he was ready and I went to meet him at his house. He then told me that we had to go up to campus to pick up a paper from his professor. I went along and when we parked he told me that we were going to walk and get the paper because it was in the professor's other office on the other side of campus. So I walked with him for awhile and we came to the Sul Ross Statue. It is a tradition at Texas A&M that you put a penny on the statue for good luck. I will admit I was a little confused that we were going to the statute but I was very surprised when Miles pulled four pennies out of his pocket. One was from the year we met, one was from this year, one was tattered and dirty for all the rough times we have been through and one was the oldest penny he could find to symbolize the many years we are going to share together. Of course this is when I figured out was going on and started to cry. We then walked to the Century Tree. There is a legend at Texas A&M that says when two people walk under the Century Tree they will be together for a hundred years. Along the side walk that leads to the bench under the tree were candles and then there was one candle on top of a letter with my name on sitting on the bench. By the time I finished reading the letter he was on one knee and asked me to marry him. But don't worry we went to Chuy's afterward.
